Title:
1 year seeded, 7 years weeded

As a female tattoo artist that deals with physical pain, that experiences pain through her clients every day, I started to consider pain as an emotion reaction. To think about the emotional response and the physical triggers that create pain. Fear, anxiety, forsight, remorse and duty. '1 year seeded and 7 years weeded' is a reaction. Its a cathartic structure, for every lie I have ever told, for every secret I have ever held, every experience I have ever been ashamed of. It's a broken hymen, its the seeds of doubt. Manifesting something that is so common, its a weed, once planted it cant be subdued. From the beginning of the colonisation of terra australis women have only been entitled to their secrets, the burden we must carry silently, these are one of the few gifts we are allowed. . '1 year seeded, 7 years weeded' is a statement on the power of compartmentalising, and the injustice it does to the growth of our gender, the expectation of being mute and the damage that is birthed through the complacency. Letting the wound fester, letting the garden consume you.
