Artist: Ann Hayward

Title: Untitled
Medium:  Artist book
Location: Chan and Naylor

I make art which contains a message. I hope people will think about issues and care. I believe that simplicity carries a stronger message, omitting all superfluous distractions.
This work is about the Murray River and the influence of human presence in its ecosystem.
At several sites I collected Murray River water, soil and plant matter from each vicinity and samples of any rubbish present. All this was processed and made into sheets of ‘paper’, samples of which can be seen on the pages of this book.

This is part of an on-going project which examines the role of the river in Mildura and the relationship between it and the people who live here and use it in a variety of ways. Privileges should always be accompanied by responsibilities and we are privileged to have such a beautiful asset as the Murray River to enrich our lives.

Artist: Brooke Hamence

Title: My order, my chaos
Medium:  Acrylic, ink, play doh, on Magnani
Location: Premier Art Supplies

This work is about experimenting with the idea of ‘play’ and emotion. So much emotion passes through me every second and I was curious as to how I could put those emotions into play intuitively. I have used print making processes, (I’ve been using multi coloured inks recently and using its vibrant textures to exaggerate past dreams). In bright and bold colours with added textures from a visual lexicon l have been developing throughout the year. I wanted to know what would happen if I tried printing through the press on play doh on paper, and although my approach has been experimental l have experienced some very satisfying results so far.

Artist: Bradley Rosher

Title: Anamorphic Illusion
Medium:  Pencil, marker and fineliner
Location: Café 27 Deakin Avenue

I have been exploring existentialism and reality, exploring our perceptions and ideas of what is real, the emotional response we have to this, and how I can visually represent that. I have been interested in illusion drawings for many years now, having drawn a variety of my own. These have been of cracks on walls, or rips in paper, as I like the illusion of damage when there is actually none at all. The fact that we can see something like this, and our brain can accept that as something that’s real is both amazing and slightly disconcerting.
With this drawing, I wanted to try something different and more complex, so I eventually decided to try my hand at an anamorphic drawing. This basically means drawing something distorted/elongated, which only looks correct when viewed at the correct angle. Everything about this drawing is designed to trick your eyes, from the distortion, to the striking contrast of the checker pattern, to the selective and subtle shading.
