March Featured Artist

Jessica Cook

Medium:  Acrylic on paper

Location: Chan & Naylor

Artist statement
I have always felt a sense of therapeutic connection to nature when painting landscapes. It is a chance to truly lose yourself as you study every detail within a scene. In this series of paintings Sunraysia and its unique aerial landscape inspire me. I have always felt a sense of beauty and connection when flying over the district. I wanted to capture the graphical patchwork of the fruit blocks that are distinctly recognisable as Sunraysia and so too the irrigation channels and river that weave and carve their way through the landscape. I encourage you to take a moment and reflect on the wonderful landscapes that Sunraysia has to offer and perhaps they too will inspire you to pick up your own pencil or paintbrush and try to capture its unique beauty for yourself.
