statement
This little
piece depicts the progress of one of nature’s most beautiful family – trees.
It begins
with a hole or cavity for a tiny seed to lodge and develop into something of
great usefulness.
During its
life a tree provides shelter from the elements and predators for birds, animals
and humans, and in many cases is a source of food also.
Later, when
the tree dies it forever provides nature with shelter and in the case of
termites for example, food.
The materials
used in this item have not only had the significant impacts as described but
have subsequently been utilised in construction of housing, furniture and other
items for our consumption and is viewed by the world as being of such
importance that it deserves to be protected from termites, which this piece is.
Put simply,
this material began as a seed and now serves as a reminder of its journey.
Trees really
are forever.
